A three-man Court of Appeal panel sitting Abuja has reaffirmed the judgment of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. The verdict was contained in a 110-page ruling delivered by Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem, wherein the Court ruled that the election of Nyesom Wike did not conform with the electoral act.
In delivering a final ruling the Court of Appeal decided all the seven issues raised by Governor Wike against in favour of Dakuku Peterside and the All Progressives Congress party.
The Court of Appeal also held that contrary to the contention of Wike and PDP, the manual and guidelines issued by INEC for the conduct of the 2015 general election were in conformity with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
