Kogi governorship election tribunal, sitting in Abuja, has upheld the election Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi state. James Faleke, running mate to the late Abubakar Audu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 21, 2015 election, filed a petition against Yahaya Bello, asking the tribunal to declare him winner instead of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Chairman of the Tribunal, Halima Mohammed, who read the judgment in the petition filed by a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, threw out the petition for lacking in merit.
The tribunal held that Faleke could not be declared governor because he did not participate in the APC primary.
