Malnutrition: Major Cause Of Children’s Death In Northern Nigeria- UNICEF

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that over half of the number of under-five of children’s mortality and women in Nigeria especially in the Northern part of the country are caused by malnutrition.

Dr. Florence Oni, a UNICEF Nutritionist who was represented by Susan Adeyemi, said the North-west has 53 per cent malnutrition prevalence in accordance to the 2014 Multiple Indicator Cluster Surrey (MICS).

She added that millions of children die from preventable causes for instance malnutrition. She also said malnutrition leads to stunted growth in child and stunted mental capacity in child’s which will make such child to operate at sub-optimal level-less Intelligence Quo
