An independent regulatory commission heard that Mourinho accepted the comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor ahead of the game against Liverpool last month constituted improper conduct but denied they brought the game into disrepute, in contravention of Rule E3(1).

The commission found the disrepute element of the charge proven and as well as being fined, Mourinho was warned as to his future conduct.

Separate to this, Mourinho will also serve an immediate one-match touchline ban – at Swansea on Sunday – after he admitted using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official and accepted the standard penalty.

The incident happened in or around the tunnel area during halftime of United’s game against Burnley on Saturday.

Mourinho was sent to the stands at half-time during United’s goalless draw at home to Burnley on Saturday after a furious bust-up with referee Mark Clattenburg.

He had been angered by Clattenburg’s decision not to award United a penalty when Matteo Darmian went down in the area following a clash with Jon Flanagan.

As well as the suspension, the standard penalty for this breach of FA Rule E3 also includes an £8,000 fine.

A one-match ban means Mourinho will be back on the touchline with old foe Arsene Wenger when Manchester United host Arsenal after the international break on November 19.
