Just seven months after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez has been sacked by Real Madrid. The manager has come under intense criticisms in recent weeks for his tactics. His last match as manager saw Real twice throw away a lead as they drew 2-2 at Valencia on Sunday evening, leaving the club four points off leaders Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Benitez’s sack was confirmed on Monday night as Real Madrid club president, Florentino Perez, addressed a world press conference.
With the dismissal of Benitez, real have appointed Zinedine Zidane as a replacement for the spaniard.
Zidane made 225 appearances for Real Madrid and has been managing Real Madrid Castilla, but has now been given the chance to be the manager of the 10-time European champions.
