WengerThe views on the successes and failures of Arsene Wenger, are quite divergent. While some hold the view that he has done a lot for Arsenal football club since taking over in 1996, a great number also feel he has underachieved over the years. The Prof. as he is fondly called by lovers of football, has come under fire, this time from his own “supporters”, who have started floating banners calling for his resignation.

Personally, I am not a fan of the Wenger brand, but whether he is called a “specialist in failure” or not, the fact remains that his achievements speak for him.

In response to the recent call for the French manager’s resignation, Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has defended Arsene Wenger, saying he should be respected and not criticised.

According to the right-back, his stellar track record speaks for itself.

“[Wenger] doesn’t deserve the criticism. Few managers have done what he has done, to be at a club for so long, to keep them at a high level, always competing for European places, winning titles,” he explained to Goal.

“It’s true that maybe in recent years the club hasn’t been quite what it was, but that doesn’t take away, for example, the number of players he’s developed – me included. He found me in Barcelona and has allowed me to play in the Premier League.
