Sen. Ahmed Lawan speaks after 6 months, lauds Buhari’s budget

Senator Ahmad Lawan, from Yobe state, who was a contender for senate presidency, on Wednesday (today), broke his silence at the red chamber. ‎

Sen. Lawan, was the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) choice for senate president but was edged out of the race on June 9 by Bukola Saraki, he had since remained incommunicative at the senate.

But on Wednesday, he made his contribution on the debate on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), addressing Saraki has “Mr president”.

“I want to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for giving Nigerians a budget proposal where 30 percent is going directly to the people and 70 percent to the privileged,” he said. ‎

“This a new dawn for Nigeria. It is dawn for social change. This 2016 budget is one of expansion and emancipation of the ordinary people.

“Today, our children in schools will have a meal a day. That was never possible in the last 16 years. The unemployed will have N5, 000‎ every month.

“Mr President, I want to implore Nigerians to support this administration so that they can get all the goodies.”
