Seven persons has been confirmed dead, while 17 were injured in an auto crash in Monday at the Sagamu/Iperu Remo junction along Lagos- Benin Expressway.
The accident occurred around 2.50pm near the Police Area Commander’s Office at Sagamu. The accident involved a Toyota Hummer commercial bus which has the plate number BDG 788 XJ, which was reported to have rammed into a Mazda commercial bus with plate number REE 248 XA.
A witness said the Toyota Hummer bus was probably carrying passengers that are returning from the Eastern part of the country after the Christmas and New year celebrations.
It was said that the driver of the Toyota Hummer bus lost control which made him ti veer of its lane and then jumped over the median before crashing into the Mazda bus that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector, Mr. Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the accident, he added that the total number of the persons involved in the auto crash which was caused by over speeding and he added that 7 had died while 17 were injured.
Mr. Adetunji said those that were injured had been taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for medical attention, while the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
