Students protest, ask Aregbesola to reverse lecturers’ sacking

Osun State College of Education students staged a public protest today to demand for reversal of sacked lecturers and members of non teaching staff that were retrenched by the governing council of the institution.

The students that protested chanted anti government songs while calling on the Governor’s name to revere the retrenchment of the workers in the institution and other three tertiary institutions owned by the state government, the students that protested were led by their Students’ Union officials

The protest was duly monitored by policemen to prevent dustruction of lives and property.

The students marched through some streets in Ilesa and headed for the palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran where they pleaded to the monarch to intervene in the matter.

The students state that they can’t afford to waste another time to strike, having lost almost five months to strike in 2015.

The President of the Students Union, Mr. Felix Alalade, who spoke to journalists after the protest said the entire students of the college held an emergency  congress and resolved to embark on demonstrations to make known their displeasure about the mass retrenchment which made the lecturers to declare an indefinite strike.
