We reject A’isha Abubakar’s nomination -Sokoto APC

The All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Sokoto State on Friday rejected the nomination of Miss A’isha Abubakar as the Ministerial nominee from the state.Aisha Abubakar

The party arrived at the decision in a stakeholders meeting  presided over by Gov Aminu Tambuwal.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, who briefed newsmen on the outcome of the meeting said the decision to reject the nominee was unanimous.

“The meeting had discussed the nomination of one lady called A’isha as the nominee from Sokoto state and we have rejected her nomination.

“We have outrightly rejected her nomination because she is not a card-carrying member of the party in the state and nobody knows her, while she knows nobody in the state.

“We have also resolved to, respectfully, write to President Muhammadu Buhari to replace her with another more competent person,” he said

Danmadamin-Isa explained that the party rejected the nominee because she hailed from the same local government with the state governor.

Also in attendace at the meeting were members of the national and state assemblies from the state and other key stakeholders of the party, including Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, Zonal Vice Chairman, North West.

A brief look at Aisha’s background shows that she was educated at Queens College Lagos, 1978-1984. Thereafter, she bagged a Bachelor of Arts in  Politics and International Studies from University of Warwick(1987-1990) and a Masters in Development studies at Leeds University.

She returned to Nigeria to take part in the National Youth Service, 1992/93 and served at the Continental Merchant Bank.

She had worked at AfDB, African International Bank and worked for nine years at Abuja Enterprise Agency. He was appointed the acting CEO of the agency in February 2014, before he was  appointed as a director of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate in June this year.

His job has been with SMEs and it was possible President Buhari wanted to tap her experience in the trade ministry.
