Yola death toll rise to 70

The aftereffect of the mosque explosion in Yola last Friday is still very lucid, as death toll has risen to 70.

Among the victims were four students of the Adamawa State Polytechnic, where the Jambutu Jumaat Mosque is built.

The National Emergency Management Agency Coordinator in the state, Mr Saad Bello, and his counterpart in the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Mallam Aliyu Maikano, confirmed that the casualty figure had risen to 70 from the initial 40 victims reported.

The state commissioner of higher education said:

“Out of the 25 affected, four students lost their lives while the rest, including two staff members, sustained varying degrees of injuries,” he added.

A Federal Government delegation, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Lawal Babachir, visited Yola on Saturday to sympathise with the government and people of Adamawa State.
