The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fake and unauthorised website circulating online, claiming to be an “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026.”
In a public notice issued on Sunday, the Commission described the website — okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Staff-Recruitment.html — as fraudulent and not affiliated with INEC in any capacity. It urged members of the public to disregard any information originating from the platform.
INEC explained that the fake portal falsely claims the Commission is recruiting about 10,000 ad-hoc staff, including graduates and non-graduates, for the 2026 elections — a claim the electoral body categorically denied.
According to INEC, all information, statistics and application forms displayed on the website are misleading and deliberately designed to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, particularly job seekers.
The Commission clarified that recruitment of ad-hoc staff is conducted exclusively through its official platform, INECPRES, stressing that it does not engage third-party websites or agents for recruitment exercises.
Authentic INEC ad-hoc recruitment sites
INEC disclosed that the only authentic platforms for the ongoing 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Election ad-hoc staff recruitment are:
- Web and iOS: pres.inecnigeria.org
- Android Mobile App: presmobile.inecnigeria.org
It warned that any website or link outside the inecnigeria.org domain is unauthorised.
The Commission further advised prospective applicants to verify all recruitment-related information through INEC’s official communication channels, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and refrain from submitting sensitive personal details such as BVN, passwords, OTPs or bank information on non-INEC platforms.
INEC also urged Nigerians to always confirm that recruitment URLs end with inecnigeria.org before proceeding with any application.
Individuals who may have already registered on the fake portal were advised to discontinue immediately and reapply only through the approved INEC platforms.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and credibility, while pledging continued efforts to protect Nigerians from fraudulent schemes. It also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment claims.
