Sports Federation Elections: Oyerinde emerges president, others win

Boye Oyerinde and Umaru Aliyu have been elected as president and vice-president of the Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) in one of the several elections conducted on Tuesday for sports federations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the elections were held at the Abuja National Stadium on Tuesday.

Oyerinde was elected as President with 33 votes against 19 votes for his opponent, Sunday Wilson, while Umaru Aliyu emerged unopposed as Vice-President.

While speaking to NAN after the elections, Oyerinde assured that he would lead the Federation to new heights.

“I’ m happy that I won the election and I’m happy that I have people who are ready to work with me. Together, we will take the Federation to a new level.

“We will organise more competitions to create an awareness of our game in the country,’’ he assured.

Also Adewumi Adekunle and Tosin Aluko have been elected as president and vice-president respectively at the board elections of the Nigeria Kung-fu Federation (NKF).

Adekunle was elected with 27 votes against 8 votes for his opponent, Olukehinde Oladeinde, while Tosin Aluko won the vice-President position unopposed with 36 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Adekunle said he would make the game more popular among Nigerians.

“We have people who are willing to sponsor us, and we will need their support to create awareness of the game.

“We will make sure we participate in all the international championships so that we can receive support from the World Kung-fu Federation (WKF),” he said.
