The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has annulled the April 11 gubernatorial elections in Rivers State. This means that Nyesom Wike has been sacked as the Governor of Rivers State.
The tribunal, delivered its ruling in Abuja on today (Saturday), ordering a fresh governorship election to be conducted in the state.
Dr. Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election, challenged the election of Mr. Wike as Rivers State Governor.
The Rivers governorship election, was widely criticised by local and international observers, and is reported to have witnessed the largest amount of violence both in its build-up and after the elections.
