The Oyo state government has shut down the Agodi Zoo over the fear of possible attack on attendants by lions. The closure of the company is coming after one of the lions at the zoo attacked one of the attendants, Hamzat Oyekunle, who is also known as Baba Olorunwa.
It was reported that Oyekunle, later died from injuries sustained from the attack.
Yinka Fatoki, the executive secretary, bureau of investment promotion, announced the closure in a statement in Saturday.
Fatoki in the statement while expressing shock at the unfortunate incident, however, declared that the lions in the zoo had been evacuated pending further investigations and to avoid further attacks.
He said that the incident was particularly surprising and sad as the said Oyekunle had fed the lion for over five years and was known to have had a very good relationship with all the animals in the zoo.
