Boko Haram on Sunday released a new video, showing not less than 50 of the 276 Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnapped on the night of April 14, 2014.

The girls who were wearing headscarves were behind a militant who demanded the release of fighters in return for the release of the girls.

The video reportedly showed the militant carrying out a staged interview with one of the girls, who called herself Maida Yakubu, and said she is from Chibok.

The girl is prompted by her interviewer to urge the government to release imprisoned Boko Haram militants.

“What I can say is that our parents should take heart,” she says in the Kabaku language. “Talk to the government so that we can be allowed to go home.”

This is the third video to show the girls since they were captured.

The first was released in May 2014, when around 100 of them were shown in a video.

In the second one released in April, 15 girls were shown, and Boko Haram dismissed the reports that they could not be accounted for.
