Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have foiled attempts by terrorists to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs), killed several insurgents and arrested suspected collaborators in operations across the North-East.
The military said the operations were carried out between March 31 and April 4 in parts of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, targeting Boko Haram, ISWAP fighters and their logistics networks.
In a statement on Saturday, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, said troops recorded major successes during the operations.
He said troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force engaged terrorist logistics suppliers near Geidam in Yobe State, killing three insurgents and disabling a vehicle loaded with supplies.
“Recovered items included food supplies, mobile phones and other materials intended for terrorist camps,” he said.
Uba added that troops also ambushed terrorists trying to plant IEDs along the Konduga–Kawuri axis, killing two insurgents.
“The troops engaged the insurgents with decisive firepower, triggering an explosion that neutralised two terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered during exploitation,” he said.
He said troops also discovered and safely detonated another IED along the Ngoshe–Pulka road.
In Adamawa State, troops arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members in Mubi North LGA during a joint operation with local hunters. Uba said one of the suspects confessed to gathering intelligence on troop movements and taking part in a recent attack on security forces.
The military also said troops arrested three logistics suppliers at Mainok market and made more arrests, including a foreign national suspected to be a collaborator.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum,” Uba added.
