Investigations of the sexual misconduct allegations against three members of House of Representatives was stalled on Thursday due to failure of U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, to honour the invitation of the Committee set up to investigate the allegations.Speaker Yakubu Dogara

The House of Representatives had set up a committee headed by Nicholas Ossai, to investigate the allegations that three members of the lower chamber, Mohammed Galolo, Samuel Ikon and Mark Gbillah attempted to rape a hotel housekeeper among other sexual misdemeanors when they traveled to the United States on a leadership programme.

The United States Ambassador made the allegations in a letter he wrote to Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of House of Representatives after the lawmakers returned to Nigeria.

Dogara had saddled the Ossai Committee with the task of investigating the allegations made by the Ambassador.

The Committee had on Monday invited the Ambassador to its public hearing on the matter scheduled for today, asking him to come with a video evidence of the allegation against the lawmaker.

But the Committee was forced to adjourn on Thursday due to the absence of the Ambassador.

Sources also said the absence of Nigeria’s minister of foreign affairs may have also contributed to the inability of the committee to proceed with the probe.
