Champions League: More goals as Madrid, City, Spurs win; Liverpool held

The day 2 of the 2017-2018 Champions League proved to be like the games played on Tuesday, as the teams produced lots of goals.

In the games played on Wednesday, Real Madrid starting its trophy defense by romping to a 3-0 win over APOEL.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in the Group H encounter, while Sergio Ramos was also on the scoresheet during a comfortable night for the reigning European champions.

In other games, Tottenham Hotspur appears to have overcome their Wembley hoodoo as they registered a well-earned 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League opener.

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane scored either side of a Andriy Yarmolenko strike in a lively opening 15 minutes to the Group H clash, before Kane bagged a second after the interval to seal things.

There was also much to celebrate for Manchester City as two goals from John Stones helped them to an impressive 4-0 victory over Feyenoord in the Champions League.

Liverpool on their part have themselves to blame as they could only manage a 2-2 draw against Sevilla. The English side had the chance to seal victory, but Firmino missed a penalty that could have given them a two goal advantage. Sevilla then capitalised by leveling.

It was also all squared in Germany where debutants RB Leipzig and Monaco settled for a 1-1 draw.
