It looked like a sure victory for Barcelona before Sergio Ramos scored late on as Real Madrid snatched a point in a 1-1 draw with the Blaugrana in the Clasico on Saturday.
Barcelona took the lead thanks to a second-half header from Luis Suarez, but Neymar should have made it 2-0 moments later as he guided an effort over the crossbar from close range.
Cristiano Ronaldo passed up a great chance as Barca, who welcomed back captain Andres Iniesta from injury, thought they were set to close the gap on their rivals to three points in the Liga table.
Barca had a number of chances to add more to their tally throughout the second half, but were punished on the stroke of full time, as Ramos headed home from a Luka Modric free-kick to see the points shared in the La Liga clash.
The draw sees Barcelona remain five points behind Real at the top of the table, but they will be kicking themselves after failing to see out a much-needed victory.
