Ughelli security operatives, which includes men of Ughelli ‘A’ Division Police Station and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued a kidnap victim at Ughevuwughe in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
A member of the vigilante group narrated the incident yesterday, he said that the hoodlums had kidnapped one Mr. Matthew Agatefe, at Agbarho, Ughelli, and kept him captive in their hideout in the community.
According to him, a joint patrol team of both the police and the vigilante stormed Ughevuwughe and apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Johnson Emubor.
The source further disclosed that the arrest of the suspect, who was said to be guarding the victim, led to the arrest of three others at Ughelli.
They include Amos Achi, 23; Friday Simon, 21; and Frank Onorikpe, 19, at different locations in Ughelli.
Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, confirmed the rescue of a former secretary of Isoko South local government council, Elijah Akpogbero.
He disclosed Kalu yesterday that the victim was dropped off along Otorwhe Road by his abductors while they were being pursued by a patrol team.
