8 suspects with 11 human skulls arrested in Kwara

The Nigerian Police Force in Illorin, Kwara state yesterday, disclosed that it apprehended eight suspected ritual killers in possession of eleven human skulls and other items.

Names of the suspects which included a woman was released to newsmen yesterday by the Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relations Officer.

Mr Jimoh while speaking to the press in a news conference in the nation’s capital, Abuja, listed the suspects as Azeez Yakubu, principal suspect; Ahmed Yahaya; Abdulfatai Kadri, Vigilante Commander;

Others are Aisha Yunisa, Lukman Saka, Abdulganiyu Bamidele, Soliu Ayinde and Abdulrasaq Babamle.

Parading the suspects at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Headquarters, in Abuja yesterday, DCP Jimoh said the arrests followed series of complaint of kidnapping and ritual killings in Kwara state.

He also disclosed that 11 human skulls, human bones, powder suspected to be human bones, human hair and some charms were gotten from the suspected ritulists.

Mr Jimoh disclosed that principal suspect Aziz Yakubu was first arrested after the police joint investigation team arrived Ilorin on October 5.

Yakubu was reportedly arrested after a raid was conducted on his residence at No. 20, Ile Opa.

“during the search, 11 human skulls, some pieces of human bones, human hair and powder suspected to be grounded human bones and charms were recovered in the house.” he added.

He further disclosed that the suspects engaged in digging out dead bodies from graves and selling vital parts to well-known individuals.

He noted that the suspects have already made confessions on their various parts played in the operations.

“The suspects confessed and admitted to have sold 31 human heads to some personalities in Ilorin and other towns in the state and other states,” he said.

The spokesman also noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations and efforts were ongoing to arrest other suspects at large.

Speaking to the press, Yakubu said that one of the suspect Kadri,  had brought 20 human skulls that he dug out from the Ilorin community central cemetery.

He also mentioned prominent individuals in Illorin and it’s environs to whom they usually sale vital parts presumably for ritual purposes.
