Popular Nigerian singer, Anthony Olanrewaju Awotoye, widely known by his stage name ‘Tony Tetuila’, has revealed how he was promised a juicy political appointment after he lost the contest for a seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
Tetuila said he waited to be given an opportunity to serve his people but till date no update on any appointment.
“let me get the money I wasted then first. The thing drained me, my pocket leaned. It’s not like I stopped. I’ve seen a lot of them. Let me say 80 percent of politicians that I know are full of deceit so I can only go into politics if I have the belief and strong backing that we are with you. If I had won I would have known that my effort didn’t go down the drain.
“I was promised an appointment but it wasn’t fulfilled. I wasn’t given the opportunity to let my people know my capacity, to let them know. If I was given that opportunity I would know that at least I have my salary which is actually enough. Even your salary alone is something, it can pile up to what you have spent but nobody is getting back to you, nobody is saying ok Mr man we promised you an appointment, or we haven’t given you the appointment, take your money back.
“I thank God at least there is still life. They say chicken wey never die, go still chop corn. I believe the money wasted was maybe lack of trust, or mingling with the wrong setting but to God be the glory. I know that by the time I am fully ready, I will get the post,” he said.
