The All Progressives Congress, APC, has secured a landslide victory in the Imo Local Government elections as the party won all the 27 Chairmanship seats contested for in the state on Saturday.
The APC also won 640 councillors seats out of the available 645.
Ethelbert Ebebuchi, Chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, stated this on Sunday while announcing the results in Owerri, the state capital.
Ebebuchi announced that the Redemption Peoples Party, Accord Party, KOWA, the Young Progressives Party and Rebuild Nigeria Party were the parties who won the remaining five councillors respectively.
Giving a breakdown of the elections, the state electoral boss said 13 political parties participated in the election.
He, however, disclosed that elections were in Oguta, Isu, Isiala Mbano, Aboh Mbaise and Owerri North councils were inconclusive.
Ebebuchi said the Commission would establish Electoral Tribunal for adjudication of disputes arising from the conduct of the council polls.
The local government elections were the first conducted in the state in the last seven years.
