The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has agreed to participate in the 2019 general elections.
The electoral commission made this known in a post on its official Twitter handle on Friday.
There has been confusion in the past few weeks as to whether ASUU members, who serve as chief electoral officers during elections in the country, would participate in the upcoming elections because of their current industrial action.
The strike has affected the availability of students, who are engaged as ad-hoc staff in elections nationwide.
ASUU has, however, not confirmed if its members have agreed to serve as electoral officers during the elections.
