President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday commissioned the standard-gauge Abuja-Kaduna rail services at Idu station in Abuja.
The launch means that commercial operation is set to commence on the 27th of July. Speaking, President Buhari said the federal government would link all states and commercial centres in the country with rail lines.
President Buhari ltook a train ride from Idu to Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja.
It must be emphatically stated that the Abuja-Kaduna rail is one of the infrastructural projects of the Goodluck Jonathan administration, which was implemented to an advanced stage before the end of that government.
The president expressed willingness to complete the projects passed down by the Jonathan administration.
“The federal government remains committed to completing the unfinished infrastructure projects it inherited,” the presidency said in one its handles on Twitter.
“This commitment towards continuing and building on inherited projects and policies will be established as one of the administration’s hallmarks.
“Abandoned infrastructure projects will be revived and completed with zeal. Inherited policies and programmes will be fine-tuned and implemented.”
Also, the Buhari-led federal government has revived the Kano-Port Harcourt train services.
