A total of four new cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed late Monday.
According to its post on Twitter, the centre said three of the cases were recorded in Lagos while one was recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It stated that two of the cases are imported as they recently returned to Nigeria from undisclosed countries.
“Four new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. 3 are in Lagos State and 1 in FCT.
“Two of these cases are returning travellers.
“As at 11:00pm on the 23rd of March, there are 40 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death recorded,” the tweet read.
This brings the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 40, with one fatality recorded.
Out of the 40 cases, Lagos State recorded the highest number with 28, followed by the FCT with seven (7), Ogun State with two and Ekiti, Oyo and Edo recording one case each.
However, two of the cases – the index patient and the second patient – have both recovered after treatment and been subsequently discharged.
