COVID-19: Nigeria records 170 new cases, toll hit 2,558

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday announced 170 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the country’s total infections to 2,558

The NCDC in a tweet on Sunday, said of the new infections, 39 are in Lagos, 29 from Kano, 24 in Ogun and 18 from Bauchi.

The FCT and Sokoto had 12 each, while Katsina has 8 cases and 7 cases were recorded in Borno.

Three cases were recorded in Nasarawa, two in Adamawa and one in Oyo state.

Recall that Lagos, FCT and Ogun have been on complete lockdown. The five-week lockdown will be lifted at 9am on Monday, and a nationwide curfew will take immediate effect from 8pm till 6am.

Meanwhile, Ogun has extended its lockdown till May 9 to make up for the one-week grace granted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the state at the beginning of the first phase of the lockdown declared on March 30, 2020.
