Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday night moved in, and arrested a former military governor of Kaduna State, chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Jafaru Isa.
Since the war against corruption began, Nigerians have clamoured for investigation of individuals within the ruling party. Mr. Isa is the first chieftain of the APC arrested by the EFCC in a sweeping probe into the alleged diversion of $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase by officials of the past administration.
Jafaru Isa, is a former governor and one-time governorship candidate of the defunct CPC in Kano State, and a close friend of the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Mr. Isa, happens to be a close political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was arrested at his Abuja residence located at Ajayi Crowther Street, Asokoro. It was learned that operatives of the EFCC invaded Isa’s residence around 9pm, and took him away a few minutes later.
Mr. Isa, a retired brigadier general, is believed to have received over N100million from Mr. Dasuki.
