The 9th Nigerian Senate has requested the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on Federal roads.
Legislators in the red chamber, had made the request on Tuesday, during the plenary, at the National Assembly, Abuja.
Senator Goshom Bassey from Cross River State who raised the motion, had raised concerned over the deplorable state of the Federal roads across the country.
Senator Bassey also raised an alarm to the Senate that the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), has failed to remit five percent user charge of the price of fuel to the Federal Roads Management Agency (FERMA), as it was stipulated in the Act of the rehabilitation of Federal roads.
In resolution, the senate ordered the committees concerned the PPPRA and FERMA to investigate the issue of non-remittance, by the PPPRA for the rehabilitation of Federal roads across Nigeria.
