Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex has turned down an invitation to make a special appearance at the next Emmy Awards due to royal life protocols.
According to reports, Meghan and her husband Prince Harry “politely turned down” the invitation to attend the Hollywood award ceremony and that Markle’s decision was a “line in the sand” between her former acting career and new life as a member of the British royal family.
“Show executives and NBC had offered Harry and her an invitation to celebrate with the biggest stars around, meet her showbiz friends and even present an honor. We had hoped Meghan would attend as a way of saying goodbye to her Suits fans and colleagues” a source told Sun.UK News.
However, Meghan was said to have been on the Best Drama Supporting Actress nominations ballot for her work in Suits but she did not receive a final nomination.
Turning down the invitation to the ceremony also signals she has rejected the chance to bid a final Hollywood farewell to her acting career and colleagues.
Emmy Awards is set to hold in Los Angeles next month.
