PHOTOS AND VIDEO: Ekiti APC suspends governorship primary as violence, destruction of ballot boxes mar process

Voting at the ongoing governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has stopped, as violent thugs disrupted the process.

They attacked the ballot boxes and smashed it to the ground, emptying the ballot papers on the ground.

The security agencies, who were caught unawares, had a serious time as they tried to bring the situation under control.

Sounds of gunshot were heard across Olukayode stadium in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state, venue of the botched governorship primary election.

The chairman of the Election Committee and Governor of Nasarawa State, Umar Al-Makura, headed straight to an emergency closed-door meeting with all the aspirants.

Following the violent outbreak, the All Progressives Congress has suspended its governorship primary.

This was made known via a Facebook post by the Special Assistnat Public Communications & New Media at Ekiti State Government of Nigeria, Mr. Lere Olayinka.
