Manchester United and Chelsea played out a drab 0-0 draw at a rainy Old Trafford on Saturday, as the Reds failed to win for a third time in five league matches this season.
United went into the game on the back of successive wins away to Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain, having scored six goals across those two games, but neither side ever really got going despite the attacking talent on show. United’s line-up boasted Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, while Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner all started for the visitors.
Rashford went close in the first half but saw his drilled low effort saved by Chelsea new boy Edouard Mendy.
Edinson Cavani came on for his debut after the break and found the side-netting with a near-post flick from a cross, but the deadlock could not be broken by either side and the scores were level at the final whistle.
