Mohamed Salah scored his 31st Premier League goal for Liverpool on Saturday, equalling the record for goals scored in a 38-match campaign.
However, Salah’s latest goal couldn’t help Liverpool win, as West Bromwich Albion fought back from two down to draw 2-2 at the Hawthorns. The Baggies stay bottom of the table but have kept their flickering hopes of avoiding relegation alive, while Liverpool remain third.
Salah now has a five-goal lead over Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
Salah posed a constant threat against the Baggies, using his pace and movement to torment the opposition defence and give Liverpool players a target. It was left to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to give the division’s deadliest marksman the chance he needed.
Former Arsenal ace Oxlade-Chamberlain slid the right pass to meet yet another well-timed Salah run. The Egypt international typically kept his cool to lift a deft finish over West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Salah’s latest goal means he now shares a record with some of the most prolific players in the division’s history.
