One time Minister of Solid minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has been sworn in as the Governor of Ekiti State.
The swearing-in which had in attendance top political dignitaries, took place today (Tuesday) in the state capital Ado Ekiti.
The new Governor was sworn in by Justice Ayodeji Simeon Daramola, the Chief Judge of Ekiti state.
The 53-year old native of Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area was governor from 2010-2014 and has now regain the seat under the platform of the APC.
Fayemi defeated 33 other opponents including Prof. Kolapo Olusola of the PDP to win the governorship elections and regain the seat he lost to Ayodele Fayose in 2014.
New Deputy governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, was first to take the oath of office, after which the governor did same.
He then inspected a guard of honor set up by the Police to mark the historic occasion.
In attendance were various political and government officials from all over the country including APC leader Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-rufai.
Others in attendance were, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapher alongside others.
