Fayose makes withdrawal from ‘frozen’ account

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, on Thursday stormed the Zenith Bank branch in Ado Ekiti to make cash withdrawal from his bank account that was frozen by the EFCC.

This is coming just two days after a Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti ordered that the governor’s account which was blocked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, should be unblocked by the bank.

Mr. Fayose’s account was frozen in June on allegations that he took money from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is currently being prosecuted for over arms purchase scandal.

The EFCC said it would appeal the ruling.

On Thursday afternoon, the governor’s media assistant, Lere Olayinka, circulated images showing that Mr. Fayose had been to the bank to withdraw a total sum of money.
