The Flying Eagles of Nigeria got their Group D campaign at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland off to a perfect start after thrashing Qatar 4-0 on Friday.
Maxwell Effiom, Okechukwu Offia, Ayotomiwa Dele-Bashiru and Aliu Salawudeen were all on target for coach Paul Aigbogun’s side.
Effiom opened scoring for the Flying Eagles in the 12th minute, while Offia made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.
The Flying Eagles went 3-0 up on 68 minutes through Dele-Bashiru, before Salawudeen got the fourth goal in the 74th minute.
Their next group game is against the United States of America on Monday, May 27.
The last time the Flying Eagles won their opening game at the U-20 World Cup was at the 2011 edition in Colombia when they defeated Guatemala 5-0.
The other Group D game between the United States and Ukraine will also be played today (Friday).
