“The new salary structure takes effect from January 1, 2023.”

The salary increment comes a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the Lagos gubernatorial election held on March 18.

Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to win the election for a second term of four years.

The Labour Party (LP) came second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed in third place with 62,449 votes.

There were reports of electoral violence and suppression of voters in several locations in Lagos during the election.

Consequently, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, candidate of the LP, said he is “convinced beyond any doubt ” that the outcome of the election does not represent “the wishes of the majority of peaceful Lagosians”.

He also alleged a “collusion between the ruling party and electoral officials” during the poll.
