Emmanuel Adeniyi, assistant commissioner of police in Zamfara state, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
According to New Telegraph, Adeniyi was kidnapped on Thursday while driving along Dandume/Birnin Gwari road (Katsina/Kaduna) road on his way back to Gusau, the state capital.
The newspaper said an unnamed police officer confirmed the incident but said the kidnappers were yet to make a demand.
Shaba Alkali, Zamfara commissioner of police, also confirmed the incident.
Alkali said he was still waiting for more information on the issue.
Earlier this month, suspected armed bandits invaded a police post in Tsafe local government area of the state, abducting a sergeant and corporal.
They were later released after a joint intervention by the state government and the police command.
