Some unidentified gunmen have kidnapped Susana Jonathan, Permanent Secretary of the Taraba State Ministry of Water Resources.
Jonathan was said to have been kidnapped on Sunday at about 2:17am at her home, located around the ATC area of Jalingo, the state capital.
Residents of the area stated that the gunmen stormed the house and picked up the Permanent Secretary, before shooting in the air and whisking her away to an unknown destination.
David Misal, Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, confirmed the abduction of Jonathan.
Misal, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), however, said the family had yet to officially report the incident to the police.
“From the intelligence report we have received, the woman is nowhere to be found, but we are yet to receive any official report regarding the incident,” Misal told the Punch.
“We want to call on the public not to be afraid of reporting any security threat promptly to security agencies to enable us take proactive measures.”
Jonathan’s abduction comes five days after Sanusi Sa’ad, Deputy Registrar of the Taraba State University Jalingo, was kidnapped in his house in the university’s quarters.
The university quarters is just a few meters away from where the Taraba Permanent Secretary was kidnapped.
