Former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has lost his appeal case against his conviction for money laundering in London on Wednesday.

Ibori was convicted and jailed in the UK for money laundering running into tens of millions of pounds.

He admitted to stealing public funds and money laundry through acquired properties and British banks.

He had served half of the 13 year jail sentence he received after pleading guilty in a London court in 2012 to a 10-count of fraud and money-laundering, involving money amounting to at least 50 million pounds ($66 million).

After his release, Ibori filed for an appeal against his conviction citing anomalies that tainted the entire process.

He alleged misconduct by the UK Police and prosecutors, and insisted it affected the judicial process that lead to his conviction.

Reports on Wednesday now indicate that his plea for an appeal against his conviction has failed.

Ibori now back in Nigeria was served half of his sentence according to standard British practice.
