MainaGate: Senate accuses EFCC of sharing 222 recovered houses

The Chairman of the senate ad hoc committee investigating the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, Emmanuel Paulker, says 222 houses recovered from a pension probe have been shared.

Paulker said this on the floor of the senate on Thursday, while moving a motion on the need to investigate the “mystery” surrounding the recovered property which the Presidential Task Force on Pension reform formerly headed by Maina seized from pension suspects.

The senator said he sponsored the motion so that his committee could be empowered to look into the said property.

He said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took charge of the property after Maina’s committee recovered them.

“The task force headed by Maina in the course discharging the mandate recovered about 222 houses investment, portfolio, property from pension suspects in Abuja and other major cities across the country,” Paulker said.

“The reform Maina led pension leader recovered assets from pension looters working with the EFCC, ICPC, DSS, police and paramilitary agency staff and then EFCC took charge of the recovered assets.

“The total recovered assets seized from allegedly pension thieves were reported to have been allegedly shared by some interest groups.

“These regulations from the ad hoc committee the committee equally received a petition in respect of the recovered property by the task force.”

The senate mandated the committee to look into the property and report back in four weeks.
