Manchester City defeated relegation threatened Cardiff City 2-0 to return to the top of the Premier League table on Wednesday night.
Despite missing star striker Sergio Aguero through injury, first half goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane in the sixth and 44th minute respectively, secured the win for City.
The win took City’s tally to 80 points, just one point above Liverpool in the league table.
In London, Tottenham Hotspur gave their fans the perfect opener at their new stadium following their 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Heung-Min Son scored the first competitive goal in the stadium when he got on the score sheet on 55 minutes.
Christian Eriksen made sure of the three points when he scored Spurs’ second goal with 10 minutes remaining.
The win saw Spurs climb above city rivals, Arsenal into third position on 64 points.
And at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 to boost their top four ambitions.
Olivier Giroud gave them the lead in the 38th minute before Eden Hazard made it 2-0 on 60 minutes.
And in the 63rd minute Ruben Loftus-Cheek added the third goal to earn the Blues the three valuable points.
They still occupy fifth position on 63 points, same point as Arsenal but behind on goals difference.
