For some weeks, the media has credited comments on the use of inferior weapons in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed. It was alleged he claimed the previous administration subjected the military to the use of inferior weapons in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents.
However, the military says no such thing is happening.
The attention of the Directorate of Defence Information was drawn to the above headline attributed to have been said by its Director, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar.
This headline is not only inciting but completely out of context because the Director never made such statement throughout the media interaction with the AIT that invited him to shed light and sensitise Nigerians on the new antics of suicide bombers in the North East.
Consequently, the Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to be professional and continue to guard the constitution and subordinate itself to democratic governance of this country.
We therefore solicit the cooperation and support of all Nigerians in the fight against terrorism and other allied criminal activities. We shall remain focus in protecting lives and property of law abiding citizens.
