NCDC confirms 20 new cases of COVID-19 as toll hit 343

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Monday confirmed 20 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the centre said 13 of the cases were recorded in Lagos State, two each in Edo, Kano and Ogun states and one in Ondo State.

The announcement of the new cases comes hours after President Muhammadu Buhari announced the extension of the lockdown declared on Lagos and Ogun states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by another two weeks.

Twenty new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows:

13 in Lagos
2 in Edo
2 in Kano
2 in Ogun
1 in Ondo

As at 09:50 pm 13th April there are 343 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 91 have been discharged with 10 deaths

This brings the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Nigeria to 343, as the virus has spread to 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Out of the 343 cases, Lagos State has recorded the highest number with 189, followed by the FCT with 56, Osun State with 20, Edo State has 14, Oyo State with 11, Ogun State has nine, Bauchi and Kaduna states have six each, Akwa Ibom and Katsina states with five respectively, Kwara State has four; Delta, Ondo and Kano states have three; Enugu, Ekiti and Rivers states with two each; and Benue, Niger and Anambra states have one respectively.

A total of 10 fatalities have been reported while 91 patients have recovered and been discharged.
