The Nigerian ambassador to Spain, Demola Seriki, has died at the age of 63.
His death was announced in a statement signed by his children. It was said that the former minister passed away “surrounded by his family” on Thursday, December 15.
“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend,” the statement reads.
Seriki was Born on November 30, 1959, and has been the Nigerian ambassador to Spain since January 2021.
Before his appointment as envoy, Seriki had served Nigeria in several capacities.
Between 2009 and March 2010, he was the minister of state for interior.
He was also the minister of state for defence from 2008 to 2009.
Seriki also served as the minister for mines and steel development from October 2008 to December 2008.
He headed the ministry of state for agriculture and water resources from 2007 to 2008.
