Police detonate bomb planted in Kaduna community

The Police in Kaduna have again detonated a bomb planted in Rigasa community, few kilometres to the train station.

The State Command’s spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, in a statement explained that the Kaduna Police Command had on Thursday, March 31, 2022, successfully diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna metropolis.

The statement further explained that, “The IED was planted in the area by yet to be identified persons. It was sighted by residents of the area at about 07:50 hours, who promptly reported to the police.”

He said that in a swift response, the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) swung into action and successfully diffused the IED, without any loss of life or property.

He said the Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Maiyaki M Baba thanked the residents of the area for their vigilance and for promptly reporting the incident and assured that the command would always prioritize the safety of the public.

The statement said that he advised the general public to always report suspicious movement or persons in the areas, assuring that such information would be treated in full confidentiality.

According to him, normalcy had been restored in the area and residents were going about their normal business.
