The Lagos Police Command says it has arrested two persons suspected to have killed Stephen Urueye, a medical graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), at Idi-Araba, in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
Urueye was said to have been stabbed to death by armed thugs in front of LUTH gate on Thursday night, a day after he convocated from UNILAG.
He died on Friday morning after efforts by doctors to keep him alive were unsuccessful.
According to the Lagos Police Command, the two suspects: Gbadebo Jimoh and Malik Adeboye, were arrested on Friday by operatives from the Itire division.
Both suspects were said to have specialised in snatching phones, money and other valuables in the Idi-Araba, where the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is situated.
Both suspects have been transferred to the state criminal investigation department at the Yaba area of Lagos for further investigation.
The confirmation of the demise of Urueye led to a protest by students of UNILAG’s College of Medicine and doctors, who carried placards with different inscriptions, lamenting the increased activities of armed thugs at Idi-Araba.
