The former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has been promoted to the position of assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
Magu’s promotion was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Service Commission (PSC) on Monday.
PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, in the statement, said Magu was promoted alongside some senior officers at the 15th Plenary Meeting of the commission, which was held on Friday.
The statement reads in part, “The eight Commissioners of Police promoted to AIGs were; CP Mustafa Magu Ibrahim, who is the most senior in the CP cadre and who missed the last two promotions after returning to the Police; Abraham Egong Ayim; Okunlola Kola Kamaldeen; Andrew Amieengheme; Akeera Mohammed Younous; Celestine Amechi Elumelu; Ngozi Vivian Onadeko and Danladi Bitrus Lalas (Airwing).”
Zama Bala Senchi was also appointed a Deputy Inspector General of Police while acting DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi was appointed a substantive Deputy Inspector General of Police.
23 Deputy Commissioners were also promoted to the next rank of Commissioners of Police; 31 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners of Police, while 63 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police.
