Manchester City and Liverpool moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League by winning their first games after the international break.
Defending champions City thrashed Burnley 5-0 with goals from Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane.
Liverpool won in less emphatic style, with Mohamed Salah’s first-half strike the only goal at Huddersfield.
Both sides are above third-placed Chelsea, who needed a 96th-minute equaliser from Ross Barkley to earn a point against Manchester United in Saturday’s day’s early kick-off at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham continued their best start to a Premier League season by beating West Ham 1-0. Spurs are in fourth, level on points with Chelsea, but will drop to fifth if Arsenal beat Leicester on Monday.
Newcastle slipped to the bottom of the table with a 1-0 home defeat by Brighton, while Neil Warnock’s Cardiff picked up their first win in the top flight – 4-2 at home against Fulham.
Newcastle equalled the top-flight record for the longest home losing streak from the start of a season – five matches by Manchester United (1930-31), Portsmouth (2009-10) and Bolton Wanderers (2011-12). All three teams were relegated that season.
